Safet Susic says that his Bosnia-Herzegovina team leave the World Cup with high heads, but believes that their exit could have been delayed.

Safet Susic has said that his Bosnia-Herzegovina team can leave the World Cup with their "heads held high" after ending their campaign by beating Iran 3-1.

Successive Group F defeats to Argentina and Nigeria had consigned the Eastern Europeans to a group-stage exit before facing the Iranians in Salvador on Wednesday.

Goals from Edin Dzeko, Miralem Pjanic and Avdija Vrsajevic ensured that Susic's side leave Brazil with a victory, but the 59-year-old was left regretting a loss to the Super Eagles on Saturday which he believes cost them a place in the last 16.

"We dominated the game and deserved to win. We can now go home with our heads held high," he told FIFA.com.

"We wanted to leave a good impression, but we're not satisfied because we think that we could have done more.

"I'm not being arrogant when I say that, but if we'd played a bit better against Nigeria and had a bit more luck, I think we would have made the round of 16."

Earlier today, Argentina beat Nigeria to move into the second round as group winners, while the African nation progressed as runners-up.
