Bournemouth have headed into half time at Vicarage Road level with Watford after missing an early penalty in their Championship match this lunchtime.
The visitors made a bright start to the match, with Matt Ritchie trying to hit the ball on the half-volley inside the opening minutes, but he dragged his shot just wide.
Bournemouth were awarded a penalty just a couple of minutes later when Callum Wilson was pulled down by Gabriel Tamas, but Ian Harte fired the spot kick wide.
The hosts tried to test out new Bournemouth keeper Artur Boruc shortly after, but Matej Vydra's effort from a Lloyd Dyer cross was blocked.
Boruc was called into action just before the half-hour mark when Vydra unleashed another effort, but the on-loan stopper held on to keep it out.
Vydra continued to pose a threat for the home side as he tried to set up Daniel Pudil shortly before the break, but the midfielder could only volley wide.
