Andoni Iraola provides injury update on Bournemouth midfielder

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola provides an update on Ryan Christie's fitness after he sat out Saturday's 2-1 win over Everton due to a knock.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has revealed midfielder Ryan Christie missed Saturday's 2-1 win over Everton due to a knee problem.

Christie had started 19 consecutive Premier League games before he was omitted from the matchday squad for the home clash with the Toffees.

The Scotsman's absence presented Tyler Adams with the chance to make his first start since joining Bournemouth from Leeds United in the summer.

Bournemouth looked to have spurned the chance to beat the Toffees after Beto found the net in the 87th minute to cancel out Dominic Solanke's opener.

However, Bournemouth ultimately managed to snatch all three points courtesy of Seamus Coleman's 91st-minute own goal.

Christie was forced to miss the victory with a knock that he picked up while he was away on international duty with Scotland.

Iraola confirmed that the 29-year-old is nursing a knee problem and will struggle to recover in time for Tuesday's home game with Crystal Palace.

"He has come injured from the national team," Iraola told the Daily Echo after the 2-1 victory at the Vitality Stadium. "Him and Luis Sinisterra, two important players for us that we lost before the game.

"Ryan has a cut on his knee and it is swollen. I think he fell in the stands or playing or something like that. He finished with a cut just below the knee. It has been bothering him. I don't know if tomorrow it feels better.

"It will be improving, but it is difficult because in three days we are here again playing. I see it difficult for the next game."

International duty proves costly

As mentioned by Iraola, Sinisterra is also out of action after he sustained a hamstring injury while he was away with Colombia during the recent international break.

The forward was forced to pull out of the squad before he could feature in either of Colombia's two friendly victories against Spain and Romania.

Sinisterra is expected to be out of action for at least a month, meaning that it is unlikely he will return to action before May.

Despite being without a couple of key players, Bournemouth will head into Tuesday's fixture in a positive mood after putting together a four-game unbeaten run.

Having picked up 38 points from 39 matches, the Cherries are sitting in 13th place with three points separating from the top half of the table. body check tags ::
