Eddie Howe: "We should have won"

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe claims that his side deserved all three points from their goalless draw at Watford.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has claimed that his side deserved to take away all three points at Watford today.

The Cherries were held to a goalless draw at Vicarage Road, with a point taking the south coast side to 15th in the Premier League, five points clear of safety.

"I thought we should have won today," Howe told Sky Sports News afterwards. "We were excellent for long spells in the game and [in the] second half we had some wonderful opportunities that we didn't take. But it's a clean sheet and it's a point so we have to be pleased overall.

"Away from home in this division any point is a valuable one, the disappointment is we didn't take the chances. [Heurelho] Gomes made some wonderful saves, a couple of those I thought were in and he managed to get a hand to it."

Howe refused to criticise referee Anthony Taylor for not awarding his side a penalty when Valon Behrami handled the ball in a crowded box.

"It happened quickly," he added. "I thought it was a penalty as I could see the hand come out. I thought the referee in the main had a good game but that was a big call he didn't give us. But we won't reflect too much on that."

Bournemouth are next back in Premier League action on Tuesday night when they welcome local rivals Southampton to Dean Court.
