Two goals inside the opening 10 minutes from Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie lead Bournemouth to a 2-0 victory over an abject Sunderland side.

Two goals inside the first 10 minutes have led Bournemouth to a comfortable 2-0 victory over winless Sunderland in the Premier League clash at Vitality Stadium.

The visitors, 19th in the Premier League table at kickoff, found themselves behind after just four minutes when Callum Wilson rolled past Younes Kaboul's weak challenge and smashed home his fifth goal of the season.

Dick Advocaat's side were chaotic at the back but they could do nothing about the quality of Matt Ritchie's finish as Bournemouth doubled their advantage with just nine minutes on the clock.

The midfielder controlled a half-cleared corner on his chest and volleyed a strike into the top corner from 25 yards to leave the Vitality Stadium jubilant and Sunderland shell-shocked.

Jordi Gomez nearly caught out Artur Boruc with a free kick as the visitors tried to claw themselves back into the game, but Bournemouth had control and could have made it three when Marc Pugh headed over.

Sunderland finally had genuine scoring chances when Jermain Defoe's scuffed effort was saved by the feet of Boruc before the striker somehow headed wide after beating the goalkeeper to Yann M'Vila's cross.

Advocaat's men thought that they had halved the deficit shortly after the restart when Jeremain Lens headed home M'Vila's cross only to be denied by the assistant referee's flag, before Borini came close to repeating Ritchie's spectacular first-half effort.

Bournemouth recovered from the scare to retake control of the game, and things got worse for the ailing Black Cats when Kaboul was shown a second yellow card for taking out Wilson as he struggled to contain the Cherries striker.

Eddie Howe's side hit the bar in the closing minutes as they looked to add a third but in the end their lightning start was enough to secure a second win of the season and make it a sixth league game without victory for sorry Sunderland.
