Matt Ritchie missed a late penalty as new Premier League side Bournemouth were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw with Ligue 1 side Nantes.
New keeper Adam Federici was fishing the ball out of his net early on as Yacine Bammou slotted it past him, but he will have been relived to see it ruled out for offside.
The hosts remained on top for most of the half, and Federici was called upon to keep out Johan Audel's close-range shot.
The visitors struggled to create chances with their best effort coming from Simon Francis, who blasted a free-kick wide.
However, Yann Kermorgant's header was handled in the box late on, but Ritchie blazed the ball over the bar from the spot in the 87th minute.
