James Hanson scored a dramatic late winner to give Bradford City a 3-2 win in their League One clash with Coventry City this afternoon.
After an early period of few chances, Bradford opened the scoring through Hanson, who guided the ball in with his head after being teed up by Billy Knott.
Coventry equalised five minutes before half time when Reda Johnson beat Jordan Pickford in the air to divert Danny Pugh's delivery into the net.
The visitors did well to get themselves back in the game, but wasted an opportunity minutes after the interval as Johnson brought down Hanson in the area to gift Bradford a penalty.
Alan Sheehan drove home to put his side in the lead, only for Johnson to enhance a rollercoaster of a game by scoring what looked to be a last-minute equaliser.
Hanson had other ideas, however, and made himself the Bradford hero by slotting home to snatch an opening-day win.
