Luiz Felipe Scolari remains puzzled over Brazil loss

Brazil coach Luis Felipe Scolari admits that he still cannot work out how his side managed to lose 7-1 to Germany on Tuesday.

Luiz Felipe Scolari has claimed that he is still confused by Brazil's 7-1 defeat to Germany in Tuesday's World Cup semi-final.

A disastrous six-minute spell in the first half saw Scolari's side concede no fewer than four goals as the Selecao slumped to their heaviest defeat on the international scene in 94 years.

"We had a disaster in six minutes but it happened," he told reporters. "If I could explain what happened in those six minutes I would answer but I don't know.

"The crash was also the coaching staff's, the fans', it was everyone's. No-one understood what was going on and the Germany team, which is good, took their opportunities.

"I cannot explain it, I will not justify it. An error occurred and this error was fatal. We can lose by one or two but we lost in a way that we had never done before in the history of Brazilian football."

Brazil now face the Netherlands in Saturday's third-place playoff in Brasilia.
