Brentford striker Scott Hogan has suffered a "significant" knee injury and faces an extended spell on the sidelines.
The summer signing from Rochdale sustained the problem during Saturday's 2-0 win at Rotherham United.
"Unfortunately Scott's injury on Saturday has proven to be significant and will require some careful management from this point," Neil Greig, Brentford's head of medical, told the club website.
"At this stage, the short term need is to consult with the leading knee specialist in the country and devise a management plan that will see Scott return to full health and fitness in the safest time possible."
Hogan's absence won't be felt quite as badly by the Bees as they secured the loan signing of Sporting Lisbon's Betinho for the season.
