Ivan Toney netted a brace as Brentford recorded a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night to move into eighth position in the Premier League table.
Thomas Frank's side lost heavily at Newcastle United last time out, but they responded in the perfect fashion, securing just their third league victory of the campaign with a comfortable home success.
Brentford had the first chance of the match in the fourth minute when Toney found Frank Onyeka inside the penalty box, but the midfielder's header was wide of the target.
Brighton's first opening arrived in the 16th minute, with Pervis Estupinan delivering a dangerous cross into the home side's area, but Danny Welbeck's header was straight at David Raya.
Brentford's goalkeeper then had to make two smart saves in quick succession, keeping out Moises Caicedo's drive from distance before denying Pascal Gross from close range.
Bryan Mbuemo then came close down the other end, with the striker's volley hitting the top of the crossbar.
Brentford did make the breakthrough in the 27th minute, though, with Toney finding the back of the net with a brilliant flick after meeting a low cross from Onyeka.
Leandro Trossard had a goal-bound shot blocked in the 32nd minute as Brighton looked to respond, but the home side had their lead intact heading into the half-time break.
Brentford had a penalty in the 62nd minute when Joel Veltman brought Toney to the ground, and the Englishman stepped up to send the home side into a two-goal lead.
Raya made a brilliant save to prevent Solly March's effort from finding the back of the net in the 68th minute, before the stopper made another excellent stop late on to keep out a header from Lewis Dunk, with the home side securing a clean sheet against Roberto De Zerbi's side.
Next up for Brentford is a home game with Chelsea on Wednesday, while Brighton will be bidding to return to winning ways when they face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
