Bristol Rovers edged a nervy League Two clash with Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation.
They led inside 11 minutes thanks to an unstoppable free kick from Lee Brown, which beat the despairing dive of Matt Ingram.
However, the Chairboys were soon level when Sam Wood's cross reached Matt McClure and his left-footed shot was too much for Steve Mildenhall.
Both side continued to push for a second before half time and it was Wycombe who went closest when Anthony Stewart saw his shot drift inches wide of the post.
McClure could had have added a second after the break, but his effort was wide of Mildenhall's right-hand post.
Wycombe were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal when David Clarkson's close-range effort found the bottom corner of Ingram's net.
Rovers were able to hang on for victory, which now means a point from their final game of the season will be enough to stay up.
