Bristol Rovers have eased past Newport County with a 3-1 win at the Memorial Ground.
John-Joe O'Toole sent a shot wide for the home side in a quiet opening 20 minutes, which were hampered severely by strong winds.
After 25 minutes, Kaid Mohamed wasted a good chance to score his first Rovers goal on his debut for the club before Chris Beardsley nodded over the bar.
The away side looked the likelier to break the deadlock as half time approached, with Steve Mildenhall saving well from Rene Howe and Lee Minshull.
However, just seconds before the half-time whistle, Mohamed beat Lenny Pidgeley with a powerful effort to give Rovers the lead.
Three minutes after the break, Eliot Richards made it 2-0 after an incisive breakaway by the hosts.
With Rovers seemingly in complete control, Howe pulled a goal back for the visitors with a simple finish from six yards after good work by Ryan Burge, O'Toole wrapped up all three points for the home side with a low, curling shot from 18 yards.
