Burnley have confirmed that midfielder Steven Defour will be out for at least two months due as he requires knee surgery.
The 29-year-old Belgian - who has suffered from injuries for much of his career - has a cartilage problem, and scans have shown that he needs an operation.
Prior to Wednesday's Premier League match at Newcastle United, Defour had been an ever-present for the Clarets this season and scored at Manchester United.
"Steven Defour has seen a specialist and it looks as though he is going to have an operation," Dyche said ahead of the trip to St James' Park. "We will probably lose him for a matter of months."
Defour, who has won 52 caps for his World Cup-bound nation, joined Burnley from Anderlecht for a club record £8m in August 2016.
