Burnley defender Steven Reid has announced his retirement from professional football.
The 34-year-old, who has been hampered by a succession of injuries throughout his career, revealed that he has made the decision with "a heavy heart".
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from professional football at the end of the current season," the former Republic of Ireland international tweeted.
"There has been many highs and lows during my 17yr career and I would like to thank everybody, especially family, who have been part of the wonderful journey."
Reid started his career with Millwall, before having spells at Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion prior to his move to the Clarets last summer.
He was also capped on 23 occasions by Ireland, whom he represented at the 2002 World Cup.
