Burnley take on Cardiff looking to back up their win over Bournemouth.

Burnley striker Sam Vokes has urged his team-mates to take nothing for granted as they travel to face Cardiff in the Premier League on Sunday.

After a disappointing start to the new campaign the Clarets raised the mood around Turf Moor with a crushing 4-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend.

But Wales international Vokes insists still-winless Cardiff will be desperate to nip that revival in the bud and improve their own fortunes with an overdue victory.

Vokes told Burnley’s official website: “You put a couple of results together now and you jump up that table. It’s important that we do that.

“We can’t just lay back after the Bournemouth result and think that’s the job done – we need to build on that and go again.”

The Clarets have already been served a timely reminder to keep their feet on the ground after crashing out of the Carabao Cup in midweek to Burton.

While boss Sean Dyche is unlikely to lose much sleep over that reversal he will be intent on maintaining winning ways in the league against the struggling Bluebirds.

Vokes added: “They will be looking at getting some points themselves. We know what it’s like as a newly-promoted side and it’s always a tough place to go.

“It was a slow start to the season for us and it was important we put that performance in against Bournemouth.

“We reflected on the game and there were a lot of positives to take from it. If we can look to add that to our performance down at Cardiff, it will stand us in good stead.”

Burnley’s defeat to League One Burton was not without its positives, with Steven Defour featuring for the first time since January.

The Belgium international has retained his place in the squad for the trip to south Wales but defender Ben Gibson is still ruled out following a hernia operation.

Winger Robbie Brady is continuing his rehabilitation from a knee injury and Dyche expects him to feature back with the first team within the next fortnight.

In other news for the Clarets, UEFA announced on Friday they have been fined 5,000 Euros (£4,450) after objects were thrown by their fans at the Europa League home game against Olympiacos last month.
