Burnley have reportedly set their sights on £15m-rated Strasbourg centre-back Mohamed Simakan ahead of the January transfer window.
The Clarets missed out on a number of defensive targets in the summer, including West Ham United-bound Craig Dawson, due to alleged disputes behind the scenes.
According to The Sun, however, plans are already in place for the New Year, with Simakan - previously touted as a target for AC Milan - top of their wishlist.
The 20-year-old progressed through Strasbourg's academy ranks and broke into the first team last season, making 19 appearances in Ligue 1.
Simakan is expected to start Sunday's league meeting with Lyon as the Racers look to climb out of the relegation zone.
