Burnley are set to open up contract talks with their current number one goalkeeper Nick Pope, according to a report.
The shot-stopper has been with the club since 2016 and kept his first clean sheet of the season at the weekend during the goalless draw with Norwich City.
The England international is currently under contract with the club until 2023, but he was not chosen in Gareth Southgate's recent England squad, with Sam Johnstone, Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale all being chosen ahead of him.
However, Burnley are reportedly now in discussions to tie Pope down to a longer deal, according to Football Insider, with the club putting a real focus on retaining key players to long-term contracts.
The talks with Pope follow on from Sean Dyche recently signing a four-year extension and committing his future to the Clarets.
Burnley are without a win in the Premier League this season and occupy a place in the relegation zone, sitting 18th in the league table. body check tags ::
