Burnley boss Sean Dyche has insisted that the door is always open for Joey Barton at Turf Moor, but refused to comment on a possible January move for the experienced midfielder.
Barton is currently a free agent after having his Rangers contract terminated last week and it has been reported that Burnley want to re-sign the 34-year-old, who helped the Clarets win promotion to the Premier League during the 2015-16 campaign.
Dyche remained coy when questioned whether Barton could re-join the club, but has claimed that the one-time England international will always be welcome at the training ground.
"If he were to call me and ask for some help, whether that be for a place to train or whatever, we would help him with that, but that's all for now. Anything else beyond that would be for the future, but certainly not for now," Dyche told reporters.
Derby County have been linked with a move for the former Manchester City midfielder over the last few days.
