Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly hoping to tempt Martin Paterson to the club this summer.
The 26-year-old will become a free agent next month unless he is able to agree a new contract with his current employers Burnley.
Wolves, who will play in League One next season, are thought to be keen to sign the Northern Ireland international, but face competition from a host of clubs for his signature.
"He has got six or seven Championship clubs interested but we understood Wolves are still keen," a source close to the striker told the Express & Star.
"We have read the speculation about Wolves and they are the only League One club he would be interested in signing for."
Paterson joined Burnley from Scunthorpe United back in 2008.
