An early second-half Lucas Akins goal and a John Mousinho strike were enough for Burton Albion to take all three points against York City at the Pirelli Stadium.
After a goalless first-half, it was the Brewers who broke the deadlock in the 55th minute thanks to Akins volleying home from Adam McGurk's blocked shot.
Akins kept pressing for his second of the game after breaking forward and striking from 25-yards, only to be foiled by York keeper Michael Ingham.
McGurk continued his side's dominating performance by hitting the crossbar, with the ball bouncing clear of Ingham's back.
Mousinho doubled his side's lead after finding the bottom corner from 25-yards on the 79th minute, and Burton saw out the last 10 minutes to end York's remarkable 23-match unbeaten League Two run.
