Bury manager Gary Flitcroft has confirmed that Ricardo Vaz Te has been training with the club.
The 28-year-old, who previously worked with Flitcroft at Barnsley, has been without a team since he departed Turkish outfit Akhisar Belediyespor at the end of last season.
However, Vaz Te has been handed the chance to regain his fitness by Flitcroft, who refused to reveal if he would be offering the striker a contract at Gigg Lane.
"He had a very successful spell with us at Barnsley and got his move to West Ham through it," he told the Bury Times.
"There is no easy way to get fit. He'd been trying to get fit on his own and needed some help and support in doing that. He trained at Carrington on Tuesday with Guy and been sick.
"He had a really tough day - he probably wishes he hadn't come up now. This is really about helping someone out who did fantastic for me. He's realised he needs that power in his body and he wants to get that back."
Vaz Te was spotted in the directors' box during Bury's 4-3 defeat at the hands of Fleetwood Town on Tuesday.
