Kenwyne Jones has requested to be excused from international duty with Trinidad and Tobago in order to resolve his future at Cardiff City.
The former Stoke City and Sunderland striker has been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday and two MLS clubs over the summer.
Despite transfer talk cooling in recent weeks and Jones scoring two goals in four appearances for the Bluebirds this season, Trinidad and Tobago coach Stephen Hart has revealed that his captain has requested to miss the friendly game with Mexico in order to figure out his club future.
"Jones is trying to sort out his future with Cardiff City and Bateau has now joined Russian Premier Division club FC Krylia Sovetov Samara and have both asked to be excused," he told reporters, also referring to Sheldon Bateau.
The 30-year-old has scored 15 goals in 52 appearances since joining Cardiff City from Stoke in a straight swap deal for Peter Odemwingie in January 2014.
