Carlisle United have announced that the club have parted company with manager Greg Abbott.
The 49-year-old, who has been at Brunton Park since 2006, has come to the end of his stint following a run of poor results in League One, which included a home defeat to Port Vale on Saturday.
A statement on the club's official website said: "The chairman and managing director then met with Greg Abbott and it was felt that the best thing for the club, and the manager, was for the parties to go their separate ways.
"The board would like to go on record with their acknowledgement and appreciation of the hard work Greg Abbott has done for Carlisle United."
Assistant manager Graham Kavanagh and youth team coach David Irons will take over the first team until a permanent new boss has been appointed.
