Carlisle United manager Graham Kavanagh has revealed that he would like to add Pascal Chimbonda to his squad at Brunton Park.
Kavanagh played alongside Chimbonda during spells with Wigan Athletic and Sunderland, and the Irishman has admitted that the former France international could prove to be a valuable asset at the club.
The 39-year-old told the News & Star: "I know what Pascal's like as a person and as a character. With his history and calibre, I'd be foolish not to have a look at him.
"We'll monitor him over the next week and see where he's at. If we can get him fit, and he can fit into the group in a positive manner, I'd like to have him on board.
"He's said all the right things and it's a case of us having a look at each other."
Chimbonda has been without a club since leaving Doncaster Rovers in 2012.
