Catania coach Rolando Maran declared that his side's season starts now after watching them beat Lazio 3-1 on Sunday.
Goals from Mariano Izco, Nicolas Spolli and Gino Peruzzi were enough to move Maran's side out of the Serie A relegation zone, despite Stefano Mauri scoring on his return from a six-month suspension for Lazio.
"The last few performances had shown good quality and we went so close to the victory, for example with several chances at Parma. Our season starts here," Maran told Sky Sport Italia.
"We knew that we'd need a huge achievement to get a result and we did it. I have to compliment my lads. We're out of the relegation zone for a few hours at least and it is our fourth game unbeaten, despite missing some key players.
"Everyone said we were done for, so at the same time it is now premature to talk about safety being within our grasp. I knew this squad had what it takes to stay in Serie A, but there's a long way to go yet."
Catania are now 17th in Serie A.
