Charlie Mulgrew and Kris Commons claim a goal apiece as Celtic take a 2-0 lead into the break against Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Celtic appear to be close to claiming the Glasgow bragging rights as they hold a 2-0 lead at the break in their Old Firm derby clash against Rangers this afternoon.

Champions Celtic controlled the opening exchanges and went on to press home their domination in the 17th minute. Kris Commons sent over a corner which was met by an unmarked Charlie Mulgrew, who bounced a header beyond the reach of Allan McGregor in the away goal.

Ross McCabe went close to drawing the visitors level moments later, but his effort from 25 yards out was deflected just over.

Having claimed an assist earlier in the match, Commons got his name on the scoresheet with 30 minutes played. The winger exchanged passes with Gary Hooper, before lifting the ball over an advancing McGregor.

Victor Wanyama had a chance to make it 3-0 in the closing stages, but his low drive was parried to safety by McGregor.
