Half time at Celtic Park sees Celtic and Dundee United level at 0-0, despite the home side dominating the first 45 minutes.
The game started very evenly between the two sides, with neither able to get a real grip on the game.
Paul Paton had the first effort on goal after 10 minutes, taking aim from 30 yards out, however his strike dragged wide of the post.
The home side began to push forward and came close with a ball over the top that almost led to Leigh Griffiths connecting with a first-time volley.
Celtic cut through the visitors with some quick, incisive passing on 16 minutes, but Anthony Stokes couldn't find the final pass to finish the move.
Griffiths beat the away side's defence to a long ball just after the 20-minute mark and forced the goalkeeper into a fine save from an acute angle.
Celtic started to dominate the game as Stokes fed Griffiths in the area, though the striker's final strike was a weak one.
Minutes later, Stokes drifted inside his marker and fired towards goal, but the goalkeeper made a comfortable save.
Griffiths then beat United's offside trap on 32 minutes, but saw his shot turned wide at the near post by the goalkeeper.
Dundee United finally had a spell of prolonged possession as the first half drew to a close, though they couldn't threaten the goal, with Paton firing well over the bar.
