Celtic have written to the Scottish Football Association asking for clarification over Josh Meekings's handball in their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Meekings clearly handled Leigh Griffiths's shot on the line during the first half at Hampden Park on Sunday, but no action was taken against the Inverness defender. Celtic went on to lose the match 3-2 after extra time.
The Scottish champions have now contacted the country's FA in an attempt to understand why the incident was not seen by any of the officials.
"First and foremost we absolutely congratulate Inverness Caledonian Thistle on reaching the Scottish Cup final. They are a fantastic club and reaching the final is a great achievement," read a statement on Celtic's official website.
"However, given the level of reaction from our supporters and across football, we are duty bound to seek an understanding of what actually happened. We have not been given any other specific explanation so far and this is simply to understand the circumstances of what went on and why such an obvious error was made."
Celtic continue the defence of their Scottish Premiership title on Wednesday when they make the trip to Dundee.
