Sports Mole previews the Scottish Premiership fixture between champions Celtic and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Celtic will hope to record their 29th win of the campaign when they host Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

Inverness travel to the league champions with one eye on next weekend's Scottish Cup final, but they will hope to gain some momentum ahead of that fixture with a positive result in Glasgow.

Celtic

It has been three weeks since Celtic successfully retained their Scottish Premiership title, but Ronny Deila's men have continued to end the campaign on a positive note.

Deila made a couple of alterations for their fixture at St Johnstone last week, but the 0-0 draw showed the desire to end the season with just four defeats to their name.

Deila has openly spoken about his wish to become the first side to concede fewer than 18 goals in a campaign for 96 years, and a clean sheet on Sunday will achieve that record.

Despite having little to play for, Celtic will be further motivated to record three points after suffering defeat to Inverness in the Scottish Cup semi-final last month.

A debatable sending-off and a late extra-time goal contributed to Celtic's loss, and they will have a score to settle after the result cost them the opportunity to win the treble.

Deila could rotate his squad for their final home game before the summer, but whoever he selects, he will expect his team to take the club over the 90-point mark for the fourth time in five years.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle

With third place in the Scottish Premiership standings and a Scottish Cup final spot already secured, Inverness could have been forgiven for under-performing over the past few weeks.

However, the club deserve plenty of credit for pushing on with three wins and a draw from their last four fixtures to achieve their highest ever total in the top flight.

Thistle achieved 58 points during the 2005-06 campaign, but nine years on, they have registered 65 points with one game still remaining.

John Hughes has done a superb job in his 18 months in charge, and although all eyes will be on Falkirk at Hampden Park next week, the 50-year-old will demand that his players focus on Sunday's game.

Several members of his squad are playing for places in what is the biggest game in the club's history, and Hughes won't want his team going into that contest having fallen to a heavy defeat.

However, he will also be conscious of the fact that he can't afford any injuries, so it may not be realistic to expect his team to approach the encounter with the same intensity as they have for their previous 37 games in the league.

Team News

Deila could hand a recall to Emilio Izaguirre after the left-back was replaced by Kieran Tierney for the game against St Johnstone.

Charlie Mulgrew may start instead of Jason Denayer in defence, while John Guidetti will hope to feature before his return to Manchester City.

Hughes must decide whether to rest several members of his squad ahead of the Scottish Cup final or look to continue their recent impressive form.

Nick Ross, Tarmo Kink and Marley Watkins are all in contention should the Thistle boss rotate his starting lineup.

Celtic possible starting lineup:
Zaluska, Matthews, Ambrose Emuobo, Mulgrew, Izaguirre, Brown, Armstrong, Forrest, Commons, Mackay-Steven, Griffiths

Inverness Caledonian Thistle possible starting lineup:
Esson, Meekings, Warren, Devine, Shinnie, Draper, Tansey, Vincent, Christie, Doran, Ofere

Head To Head

Celtic have come out on top in 26 of the 37 fixtures between the two sides, with Inverness recording just six wins during that time.

Inverness possess an even worse record at Celtic Park, with only one victory being recorded in 17 attempts.

They are unbeaten in their last two meetings with Celtic, but those results have come at the Caledonian Stadium and Hampden Park respectively.

We say: Celtic 3-0 Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Neither side are likely to approach this game with their usual intensity, but there is less pressure on the home side and even though Deila will likely rotate his team, they should be able to end the season with another three points.
