Celtic and Rangers play out a 0-0 draw at Parkhead in the second Old Firm derby of the Scottish Premiership campaign.

Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic have been held to a goalless draw by rivals Rangers at Parkhead in this afternoon's Old Firm derby.

Both teams had chances to win the game across the 90 minutes, with goalkeepers Craig Gordon and Wes Foderingham producing big saves.

Despite being shut out by their arch rivals, seeing their unbeaten home league run in this fixture extend to an eighth year, Celtic are now nine points clear of second-placed Aberdeen.

The first opening fell the way of visiting striker Alfredo Morelos, who could not quite pick out the back of the net after making the most of a Mikael Lustig error.

Ross McCrorie then sent a deflected shot wide, before Celtic started to create opportunities of their own as Moussa Dembele forced a save out of Foderingham and James Forrest did everything but finish after bursting into the area.

Celtic really should have taken a lead into half time, with Scott Sinclair seeing a shot blocked by James Tavernier and then saved by Foderingham from the follow-up.

An even better chance would fall Sinclair's way in the final stages of the opening 45 minutes, only for the Englishman to scuff his attempt at the back post from a glorious position.

Having been second best for large parts of the first half, Rangers dug deep and came close to opening the scoring through a Tavernier scissor-kick, which Gordon was equal to.

Home boss Brendan Rodgers decided to change things slightly on the hour mark by bringing on Leigh Griffiths for Dembele, who may well have been playing his final match at Parkhead this afternoon amid links to the Premier League.

Rangers continued to look the more dangerous side in the final third, though, as Morelos was somehow denied by Gordon from five yards when spotted by a fine Tavernier delivery.

Celtic have scored 10 goals in the final 15 minutes of matches this season, while Rangers have bagged nine, but despite some late pressure there was to be no winner in the Glasgow stalemate.

Celtic (4-2-3-1): Gordon; Lustig, Boyata, Ajer, Tierney; Brown, McGregor; Forrest, Armstrong, Sinclair (Ntcham 72'); Dembele (Griffiths 61')

Rangers (4-5-1): Foderingham; Tavernier, Wilson, Alves (Bates 18'), John; Candeias, Holt, McCrorie, Kranjcar (Pena 80'), Windass; Morelos (Herrera 89')
