Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of Friday night's South London Championship clash at the Valley.

Both Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace have had indifferent starts to the season and currently sit in the bottom eight of the table.

A win for the Addicks or the Eagles, who are separated by just 11 miles South of the Thames, will see them propel up the league before the majority do battle tomorrow.

Follow every twist and turn with us below.

9.46pmSo it's Crystal Palace who take the South London bragging rights this evening with a confident away performance. Our match analysis will be up on site in around half an hour's time so look out for that. Join us for live scores and commentaries, instant match reports and more on a super Saturday of football tomorrow. Until next time, good night!

9.44pmIf you want a concise run-down of tonight's events at the Valley then you can find it here.

9.43pmIt finished 3-0 to Brighton in front of a record 26,000 crowd at the Amex. Click here for our report.

9.42pmMatch-winner Dikgacoi tells Sky Sports News that the Palace fans were buzzing.

9.40pmWilson has one last go at goal but the substitute again shows that the Addicks need some shooting practice by skewing wide. Bates brings an exciting game to an end, with Palace deservedly picking up the three points to rise to 14th in the table.

FULL-TIMECharlton 0-1 Palace

90+4 minOFF THE LINE! Oh my word! Charlton keeper Hamer comes up for the corner and he's left unmarked in the area. His heading technique isn't great, with the ball coming off his shoulder but it's going in only for a yellow shirt to save the day on the post!

90+3 minOFF THE BAR! Oh so close to a late equaliser for Charlton as Fuller's shot is deflected up on to the crossbar.

90 minIt's a great delivery from the left but Speroni takes no chances, punching clear to safety. Four minutes added on.

90 minSolly is blocked off by Blake and Charlton have a late set piece.

88 minPalace make their last change as the hard-working Murray is replaced by Aaron Wilbraham.

86 minDear me! Charlton's shooting from distance has been woeful tonight. Fuller is the latest to sky an effort.

84 minFuller's in the action again as he meets Solly's cross, beating Delaney to the ball but heading high and wide.

83 minCHANCE for that leveller as Wilson escapes a challenge down the right and drills low for Fuller, whose shot doesn't curl enough to get inside the near post.

82 minSperoni hasn't had much to deal with tonight and Stephens doesn't change that with a ballooned long-range shot. Not long for the hosts to find an equaliser.

79 minClose to a second for Palace as Garvan strikes goalwards but sees his shot deflect just wide for a corner.

78 minGreen almost makes an instant impact with a clever turn on the touchline but his cross is adjudged to have curled out before Speroni tipped over the bar.

77 minFinal sub for the Addicks as Danny Green comes on for Pritchard.

76 minParr is adjudged to have brought down Pritchard and Charlton have a chance to get the ball in the box. Wilson's delivery is however too strong for all the red jerseys in the area. Just 15 left for the hosts to do something about this.

74 minPlenty of yellows being pulled out at the moment as Murray is cautioned for an attempted trip on Wilson. Palace also make a change as Bolasie comes off for Jonathan Williams.

71 minJust about the only thing Charlton have done right tonight is win headers. They do it again at the back post but Hollands can't wrap his foot around the knockdown.

70 minSilly booking for Bolasie, who needlessly poked the ball away. Immature.

69 minCharlton have a free kick because of the foul but Kermorgant's attempt almost reaches row Z, getting caught by a supporter in W.

69 minYellow for Palace captain Jedinak after bringing down Fuller.

63 minBetter from the home side as Wilson curls in an inviting centre that fellow substitute Fuller nods wide.

62 minBack to the valley and sub Wilson has just been booked for a blatent block on Bolasie. Still all Palace.

9.05pmBrighton are storming to the Championship's summit as they add a second in quick succession to make it Brighton 3-0 Wednesday.

60 minPalace need to convert this pressure into a second as both Murray and Dikgacoi nearly add another.

59 minChange for Charlton as new loan signing Ricardo Fuller comes on for Jackson. An out-and-out forward on for a winger, attacking indeed Mr Powell.

9.02pmBrighton look to be heading to the top of the table as Craig Mackail-Smith finishes off a swift counter attack. Brighton 2-0 Wednesday.

56 minCharlton keeper Hamer shows signs of frustration by collecting a corner only to look up and not see a red shirt trying to break. What can the Addicks do to change things here? Manager Powell must act soon, surely?

55 minMurray rises highest to meet Garvan's delivery but can't keep his header down. Palace are not looking like a team who lost their opening three games of the campaign.

54 minIt's all Palace now as Bolasie has a shot saved before more pressure sets up another corner.

51 minIt has been coming. A Garvan corner is headed to the midfielder, who chests it down before volleying instantly into the far corner. Great hit.

51 minGOAL! PALACE LEAD! WHAT A GOAL BY DIKGACOI!

50 minCHANCE again for Palace as Bolasie cleverly reverses for Garvan, whose cross is well steered clear by Cort.

49 minPalace have the chance to counter and Garvan searches for Murray but the pass hits the striker's heel as he looked to run onto it. Even start to the half.

46 minSECOND HALF BEGINS Charlton 0-0 Palace

8.48pmBack to South London though and we're almost ready to get the second 45 underway. Can either side come out after the break and grab the three points?

8.41pmIf Gus Poyet's men can hang on to that lead then they'll go top of the Championship this evening. Likewise, if Wednesday manage to turn it around then they'll go to the summit. Plenty to play for on the coast then.

8.39pmAnd it's here for our HT report on that one.

8.37pmDown at the Amex and it's still Brighton 1-0 Wednesday thanks to Wayne Bridge's second goal in a month. That's significant because the left-back hadn't scored in eight years beforehand!

8.36pmClick here for our half-time report from proceedings at the Valley.

8.35pmNo goals yet but it's been a South London encounter with a nice bite. I'd say Palace have been the better side but perhaps Charlton have had the better chances, with Wright-Phillips header seemingly wrongly disallowed.

HALF-TIMECharlton 0-0 Palace

45+2 minNo. Garvan's free kick comes to nothing.

45+2 minStephens obstructs Zaha at the other end so will Palace take their set-piece chance?

45+2 minSaved by Speroni as Jackson decides to go keepers-side and doesn't catch the eccentric stopper out.

45+1 minJust as two minutes are added on, Delaney brings down Wright-Phillips and Charlton have a free kick in a great position that specialist Jackson will be eyeing up. Chance, this...

44 minWright-Phillips is played in but can't pick out Kermorgant in the middle as Delaney gets there first. Approaching the interval and it's been a good game so far, not one of those that 'needs a goal'.

43 minZaha certainly likes having the ball at his feet. The young winger twists and turns before dragging his shot wide when he should have picked out the onrushing Parr on his outside.

41 minClose for Charlton as the hosts ping it round nicely before Stephens's shot fizzes over. The midfielder should've opened his eyes and played in Wright-Phillips though.

39 minJackson's got a peach of a left boot on him, whipping in another great cross that Kermorgant can't direct goalwards.

38 minBit of a comedy moment as referee Bates gets in the way and is trodden on for his troubles. On your feet, Tony.

33 minPalace go up the other end and Bolasie drives at the Addicks' defence before firing low into the arms of Hamer. Warming up is this one.

32 minDISALLOWED GOAL! Wright-Phillips thinks he's given Charlton the lead by heading in another flick-on. However, the assistant raises his flag but replays show that a Palace body kneeling on the floor was playing the striker on!

31 minBolasie tries to again undo the substitute Wilson but this time the right-back is up to the task and puts it out for a corner, which is again taken short with Hamer taking the catch in the middle.

8.15pmThere's been a goal down in Brighton where the home side have taken the lead through a deflected Wayne Bridge shot. The Seagulls are 1-0 up on Wednesday.

28 minBolasie shows some super quick feet to work some space but skies his shot almost out of the stadium. Impressive skills from the winger, mind.

26 minHandbags as Pritchard and Jedinak square up after a heavy challenge from the former. No bookings for either man.

25 minCompletely wasted as it's taken short to Zaha, who tries some stepovers before delivering a useless centre.

25 minPalace have a corner as Bolasie forces Cort to concede the set piece.

24 minCharlton are having plenty of luck winning headers, with Morrison this time flicking the ball forward but only straight into the gloves of Speroni.

21 minYellow for Stephens after a hefty challenge as Wiggins can't continue and Lawrie Wilson takes his place at right-back.

18 minGood again from the visitors as they break forward, with Morrison almost heading into his own net before Garvan sees a shot blocked. Charlton's left-back Wiggins is down injured and manager Powell seemed to just mouth s**t! He's looked dangerous so far, the left-back.

17 minZaha's apparent reluctance to get back down the Charlton left is seeing plenty of space for Jackson and Wiggins to put in a cross at the moment. The Eagles need to either tell a defender to fill in or force Zaha to track back.

15 minThe home fans are getting very restless as Charlton continue to sloppily give the ball away.

13 minPalace's other winger, Bolasie, now shows off his trickery before teeing up Parr for a nice cross that is well headed out. Palace definitely on top at the moment.

12 minBig chance for Palace as yet again Zaha gets to the byline and looks for Murray. Hamer can't cut it out and Garvan is just denied on the line.

10 minWiggins delivers a fabulous cross from the left that reaches the back post, with Parr doing well to clear the danger.

8 minCharlton probably had the best of the opening five but Palace have taken ahold of this one now. Zaha looks a threat.

7 minAnother similar opening for the visitors as again Zaha escapes into the area but can't find a successful pullback.

7 minChance for Palace as Zaha is freed down the right but the young winger can only pick out Hamer in the middle.

5 minNice cross from the left from Charlton but Pritchard's header is fairly weak and easy for Speroni to catch.

4 minTasty challenge from Garvan on Fletcher but referee Tony Bates affords the Palace man no booking.

3 minAlmost an opening for Charlton as Hamer pumps a long free kick that is well flicked on but Stephens can't get quite on the end of it.

1 minThe home side are in their customary red tops, white shorts while Palace have donned a predominantly yellow, rather horrible away strip.

1 minWe're off! Charlton get us underway.

7.45pmHere's a stat relevant for tonight's derby: Charlton haven't lost at home to Eagles in league since 1989 (P7 W4 D3).

7.44pmFor me, it makes more sense to ensure all 22 players are forced to shake hands after the game, once you've done battle and the gesture means more.

7.43pmNow for the rather meaningless pre-match handshakes, that we know have sparked many a headline this week!

7.42pmHere come the two teams out the tunnel and the travelling Palace fans are giving their boys a rousing welcome.

7.41pmThere's another Championship game down on the south coast tonight between Brighton and Wednesday, who both have seven points from their opening four games and sit pretty in the top six. I'll be sure to bring you the quickest goal and incident updates from that one, don't you worry!

7.38pmPalace have had seven of their squad away on international duty but Freedman says this is a good thing as they have picked up more "experience" by going to places like Brazil and South Africa. Bit farfetched that, Dougie!

7.35pmCharlton boss Chris Powell tells Sky Sports News that his side have had an "OK" start to the season. His opposite number Dougie Freedman adds that he thinks the performance last time out against Palace should put them in good stead for tonight.

7.34pmPalace's new loanee striker, David Goodwillie, has not earned a starting berth this evening and occupies a place on the bench.

7.32pmA second win on the bounce for Palace this evening would see them leapfrog Charlton in the table.

7.31pmBoth teams do possess some pacy, exciting talent at the attacking end of the pitch. For the Addicks, Bradley Wright-Phillips loves a goal while Palace's Wilfried Zaha is one of the division's most sought-after talents. Look out for those two tonight.

7.30pmI'd be surprised if either of these two sides are up there come the end of the season. Charlton have only just come up while Palace don't seem to have the strength in depth to mount a sustainable challenge.

7.26pmTaking a closer look at the two sides' form, Charlton suffered their first loss of the season last time out at Forest, while Palace ended a run of three straight defeats with victory over Wednesday before the international break.

7.23pmTEAM NEWS AHOY! Both XIs are in.
Charlton: Hamer, Wiggins, Morrison, Cort, Solly, Jackson, Hollands, Stephens, Pritchard, Kermorgant, Wright-Phillips
Palace: Speroni, Delaney, Ramage, Parr, Bolasie, Garvan, Blake, Jedinak, Dikgacoi, Zaha, Murray

7.20pmEvening all! Should be a good clash tonight as both sides could do with three points.
