Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has admitted that the defeat to Basel was disappointing because he believes that they were in control.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Marco Streller condemned Jose Mourinho's side to a 2-1 defeat, and Cahill admits that Chelsea failed to build on their lead.
"I thought we played well tonight. We were in control of the game in the first half but we couldn't step it up a level and we paid a price," Cahill told reporters.
"We played Basel twice last year so we knew they were a good side. You can always do better, you can analyse how goals go in and no doubt we will look at that. It's disappointing."
Chelsea turn their attention to the Premier League this weekend when they host Fulham on Saturday.
