Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel was quick to praise a member of his backroom staff after his side edged past Malmo by a 1-0 scoreline in the Champions League.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed that a member of his backroom staff was responsible for the tactical switch which led to his side defeating Malmo on Tuesday evening.

After a frustrating first half, Chelsea returned after the break with Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi switching flanks in a bid to find a breakthrough.

The change paid off within 11 minutes as Hudson-Odoi supplied a brilliant low cross for Ziyech to convert from six yards at the back post.

When quizzed on the alteration after the match, Tuchel was quick to praise the input of assistant Arno Michels during a conversation at half time.

Speaking to reporters, Tuchel said: "All the credit to my assistant, He had the idea at half time.

"We had the feelings that maybe when we enter into the spaces behind their back five, they defended a low block, we would lose seconds if Callum or Hakim had to switch back. We thought maybe we can enter and save important tenths of a second."

Chelsea remain three points adrift of group leaders Juventus after the Italian side recorded a 4-2 victory over Zenit St Petersburg. body check tags ::
