Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has said that Fernando Torres is in good shape ahead of next month's Euro 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine.
Torres, 28, has had a difficult season at Chelsea, failing to gain a regular starting place but scoring vital goals like the one in Barcelona that secured the Blues' place in the Champions League final.
The striker scored the winning goal in the final of the last European Championships in 2008 and will be hoping to have a similar impact at this year's tournament.
Former Liverpool teammate Reina said of the forward: "Mentally he feels he is an important player in the national team, all the more so since Villa pulled out, and he relishes that role.
"He feels comfortable and he looks switched on.
"Hopefully, he will have a good European Championship and Spain will feed off his goals."
Spain are in Group C alongside Italy, Croatia and the Republic of Ireland. They face the 2006 world champions Italy in their opener on June 10.
