Vicente del Bosque has insisted that Spain will be patient with Diego Costa, despite the striker failing to find the back of the net in the win over Slovakia.
The reigning European champions secured a 2-0 win in their Euro 2016 qualifier, with Jordi Alba and Andres Iniesta scoring the goals.
The coach told reporters: "Of course I would like him to score but he did some good work. Diego opened space, he occupied the defence, he moved.
"I think we have to have patience, and I ask for that with any of the forwards we have, and surely he has it more difficult than the rest of the team, who are almost all facing the play and he often has his back to it."
The Chelsea striker made his debut for Spain in March last year, but he has only scored once in 18 appearances for the country.
