Iker Casillas will earn his 163rd cap for Spain after being picked to start their Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovakia in Oviedo.
The Porto stopper is preferred to David de Gea, who is with La Roja's squad, but is yet to feature for Manchester United this season due to continued links with Real Madrid. His move to Los Merengues was called off earlier this week.
Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque is also able to call upon Gerard Pique, who is still serving a suspension with Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Slovakia manager Jan Kozak has opted to start the game without a recognised centre forward, with Robert Mak expected to play in a more advanced role.
Captain Martin Skrtel and Juraj Kucka sit out the game through suspension, with Marek Hamsik wearing the armband for the visitors.
There is also a debut for Lukas Tesak, who replaces Skrtel in the heart of the Slovakian defence.
