Reece James, Romeo Lavia: Chelsea injury, suspension list for Crystal Palace clash

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League fixture with Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Sports Mole

Chelsea welcome Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge on Sunday looking to build on an impressive victory in the Premier League last weekend.

Despite an array of incomings and outgoings, Chelsea looked a unit that was finely tuned in their 6-2 win away to Wolverhampton Wanderers a week ago, earning them their first points of the new season.

However, a midweek defeat in Switzerland against Servette may have dampened spirits slightly, even though manager Enzo Maresca did rotate heavily, and the side still progressed through Conference League qualifying.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with the Eagles, who enter the fixture on the back of two straight losses.

Reece James

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Bournemouth)

Reece James played in five of Chelsea's pre-season friendlies, but suffered yet another setback on the eve of the new season, meaning he is yet to feature in a competitive match so far, also costing him a place in the upcoming England squad.

Romeo Lavia

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Bournemouth)

After making his full Chelsea debut against Manchester City, and being given a brief cameo against Servette two weeks ago, Romeo Lavia has picked up a hamstring injury that is set to keep him out until after the international break.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Reece James

As well as currently being out injured, James is also serving a domestic four-match suspension, carrying over from last season, following a red card against Brighton & Hove Albion in the penultimate fixture of the campaign.
