Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that both David Alaba and Karim Benzema picked up injuries during Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Chelsea.

A brace from Rodrygo saw Los Blancos record a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, which saw the European and Spanish champions advance to the semi-finals courtesy of a 4-0 aggregate success.

Alaba was replaced at the interval of Tuesday's game, while Benzema was substituted in the 71st minute of the contest, and Ancelotti addressed both changes after the match.

The Real Madrid head coach said that Alaba was suffering with a tight hamstring, while Benzema picked up a foot injury, which "started to bother him" as the match progressed.

"Alaba has had a problem, his hamstring was tight and we had made the change at the end of the first half. Karim had a blow, a stomp on his foot, it started to bother him at the end and we subbed him off," Ancelotti told reporters during his post-match press conference.

Alaba has only just recovered from a hamstring issue, while he has also spent time on the sidelines with a muscular problem this year, so the latest injury will be a concern for Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are expected to run tests on the Austria international over the next 24 hours to determine the extent of the problem that occurred at Stamford Bridge.

Benzema has also spent time on the sidelines with a number of muscular problems this season, and the Frenchman found it difficult to make his mark in the second leg of the quarter-final.

The issue is only believed to be minor, but he could be rested for the team's next match on April 25, which is against Girona in Spain's top flight.

"We are delighted to play in another semi-final and will keep striving to reach the final. Reaching a semi-final is always a success because it allows you to dream of winning another Champions League and playing another final," Ancelotti added on Tuesday night.

"It was difficult, which is what we expected because our opponents go all out to get through. Chelsea did very well in the first half and caused us a few problems, but we put in a very well-rounded second half, raised our game and moved the ball around better and had more dynamism.

"At this stage of the season, the team is doing very well. We have worked well over recent games and the team is highly motivated and focused. We are very solid and we concede very few goals.

"We can make a difference when there is a collective defensive commitment. That's the basis for showing the quality we have. We have a lot of quality and being solid at the back helps us a lot."

Real Madrid will take on either Bayern Munich or Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Champions League, with the English champions holding a 3-0 lead from the first leg of their last-eight tie with the Bundesliga giants. body check tags ::
