Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Callum Hudson-Odoi will make his first-team return against Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.
Since recovering from Achilles surgery, Hudson-Odoi has featured in two second-string fixtures, the latest of which was played against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Lampard has now revealed that the England international, as well as Reece James, will be given minutes when the Blues take on the League Two outfit in the EFL Cup.
Speaking to Chelsea TV, Lampard said: "They will be involved on Wednesday night, they'll be involved. We certainly need to look at players that haven't been playing as much against Grimsby.
"We'll pay them due respect, but it's certainly a case of getting minutes for players who haven't been playing. Callum is on the road to recovery. It was a long injury, so he needs game time and Reece similarly."
The West Londoners head into the game still searching for their first win at Stamford Bridge this season.
