Gary Cahill: 'We can still win Capital One Cup'

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill insists that his side can overturn a two-goal deficit against Swansea City and progress through to the Capital One Cup final.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill believes that his club have proven in the past that they are capable of overcoming the odds to overturn a two-goal deficit.

Chelsea suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Swansea City in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday night to leave them up against it in the return fixture at the Liberty Stadium.

However, Cahill has insisted that Wembley is still within their grasp after referring to their heroics in the Champions League last season, when they came from 3-1 behind to progress past Napoli in the last 16 of the competition.

Cahill told the Daily Star: "It is never over. We created enough chances to go in at half-time 3-0 or 4-0 up, and if we take those chances in the away leg and keep it tight, we will win.

"It will be difficult because I've certainly found it tough when I've been to Swansea on my last three visits. I got two draws with Chelsea and lost with Bolton, so it is a difficult place to go.

"But we showed we can turn it round when we did it against Napoli in the Champions League last season, so this team can do it - and we need to."

The second leg of the semi-final takes place on January 23.
