The Football Association has charged Chelsea striker Diego Costa for violent conduct following last night's League Cup semi-final against Liverpool.
Costa is alleged to have stamped on Reds defender Emre Can during a feisty encounter between the teams at Stamford Bridge.
The incident was not seen by the match officials, but it was caught on video.
Costa, who has scored 17 goals this season, has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.
Despite being involved in a similar incident with Martin Skrtel, the FA has confirmed that it will not be taking further action for that clash.
Chelsea booked their place in the final of the League Cup last night as a narrow 1-0 win gave them a 2-1 aggregate victory over Liverpool.
