Bruno Saltor 'resigns as Chelsea coach'

Bruno Saltor is reportedly no longer a part of the Chelsea coaching staff.

When Chelsea made the decision to appoint Graham Potter as head coach a little more than 12 months ago, Saltor followed the Englishman to Stamford Bridge.

Such was Saltor's impact behind the scenes at the West Londoners that he was temporarily promoted to the senior role in the dugout when Potter was sacked in April.

In his one fixture in charge, Chelsea recorded a goalless draw against Liverpool and they generally impressed in that Premier League encounter at their home ground.

Nevertheless, it proved to be an extremely short-term appointment, with Frank Lampard quickly being drafted in to replace Saltor for the remainder of the season.

Saltor has since continued to work on the coaching staff under each of Lampard and Mauricio Pochettino, despite some of his colleagues having left for pastures new.

According to The Telegraph, the 42-year-old has now followed them out of the exit door with Chelsea said to have paid up the remainder of his contract.

talkSPORT adds that Saltor made the decision to resign from his position, rather than he pushed out of the door.

Regardless of the official reason, Chelsea have not communicated the departure through their normal routes, with Saltor allegedly leaving several weeks ago.

As it stands, it remains unclear who was primarily behind the decision, yet it comes at a time when Chelsea have endured a dismal few weeks on the pitch.

The Blues have failed to score in Premier League fixtures against each of Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Aston Villa, collecting just the one point from that triple-header.

From Saltor's perspective, he may have options for his next job with Potter having already been linked with several positions earlier in the month.

Saltor, a legendary figure at Brighton from his playing days, could also have interest from other clubs who are searching for a manager, should he choose to take on the challenge of being a head coach. body check tags ::
