Gary Cahill determined to emulate Chelsea success with England

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is determined to carry his success at club level into the international arena with England in the near future.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has said that he is hopeful he can continue his run of winning titles and medals in his exploits with England in the near future.

The 29-year-old became the third player after Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard to win every honour available at club level in English football after the Blues clinched the Premier League title as well as their triumph in the Capital One Cup this season.

Cahill is now determined to carry his success with Jose Mourinho's side into the international arena with the Three Lions.

He told reporters: "In one word, I would describe my season as successful. Chelsea won the title, we won the Capital One Cup and we had one of the best defences in the league again. My form suffered a minor blip in the middle of the season, but I got back on track and for me it was a success.

"To win everything in three-and-a-half years at Chelsea has been unbelievable. I now have the full set of medals, but not so long ago I had to go on loan in the Championship [from Aston Villa to Sheffield United in 2007], and I'm proud I've had to work hard to get where I am now.

"With England, I've been lucky enough to play in every qualifying game. If we can get the results we want against Slovenia and Switzerland, maybe we can be the first to qualify and then the friendlies coming up in the autumn will be the test."

England face off against Slovenia in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday.
