Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has warned that the club must be patient as Andre Villas-Boas attempts to rebuild the squad.
Villas-Boas has drawn criticism for dropping some of the team's older players as well as releasing Nicolas Anelka and telling Alex that he can leave the club.
Cech said: "I have lived this in the last few years with the Czech national team, we had two generations of players who basically retired at the same time and it takes time to recover.
"Now you can see with Chelsea there have been changes in recent years, because you can't stop a player's age.
"We've also changed the manager and a bit of the philosophy too, so again it needs time."
Cech has recently signed a new deal at the West London club.
