Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech: 'We should have killed off Liverpool'

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that the Blues could have defeated Liverpool by two or three goals if they had taken their chances but says that they allowed the Reds to get back in it in the sides' 1-1 draw.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that the Blues had enough quality to secure a victory over Liverpool but failed to make the most of their chances.

The Champions League winners settled for a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge yesterday after taking the lead through a header from John Terry, who was stretchered off before half time with a knee injury.

"It was exactly the game which shows how difficult the Premier League is when you don't kill a game off," Cech told the club's official website.

"We had complete control for 70 minutes and had so many chances you would think it is just a matter of time until we score a second or third but unfortunately we didn't and allowed them to be alive, and then they came back into the game.

"The goal helped them and it opened the game, and in the end they could have won but we should have won the game."

Chelsea sit third in the league table, three points adrift of leaders Manchester United.
