Former Chelsea midfielder Deco has announced his intention to appeal a decision made by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to hand him a one-year ban for failing a drugs test.
The 36-year-old, who retired from football in August, tested positive for the diuretic furosemide when playing for Fluminense in March.
Deco has argued that the positive test was a result of a contaminated vitamin supplement, which has resulted in the former Portugal international lodging an appeal to the CAS.
The Brazilian-born playmaker, who spent two years in England between 2008 and 2010, won the Premier League title and two FA Cups during his time at Stamford Bridge.
