Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier admits that Pedro's equaliser just before half time changed the mentality of Spurs during their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has admitted that his side are "very disappointed" to have let a lead slip on their way to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of London rivals Chelsea this evening.

Tottenham's unbeaten start to the season came to an end at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a Victor Moses strike after Pedro had cancelled out Christian Eriksen's opener just before half time.

Dier was pleased with how his side responded to their midweek Champions League exit on the whole, but admitted that the timing of Pedro's equaliser affected them.

"We were far the better team until they get their goal. Football has two halves and we have to be good for 90 minutes. We opened the door for them and we're very disappointed," he told reporters.

"It was a very nice finish for Pedro's goal but we could have stopped it in the build up. It's disappointing because it's something we need to improve on. It's our first league defeat and we're happy with the way we're playing in the league.

"Obviously going out of the Champions League is a disappointment. I think we bounced back from what happened during the week, it's just disappointing to concede just before half time. That changed everyone's mentality."

The defeat leaves Spurs now seven points off top spot in the Premier League table.
