Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole believes that Romelu Lukaku has just six weeks to save his career with the Blues.

The Belgian forward returned to Stamford Bridge last summer for £98m from Inter Milan, and he has not scored since the FA Cup quarter-final against Middlesbrough on March 19.

The 28-year-old was used as a substitute in the semi-final victory against Crystal Palace at the weekend, but missed a clear chance which led to the pundits questioning his future at the club.

"Lukaku has six weeks to save his Chelsea career. You look at Werner and he does not give up. Lukaku wants to be that focal point but he missed a chance. When it is not going for you, it is not going for you," Cole said on ITV.

"People saw Lukaku as the missing piece of the jigsaw, it did not happen, but it can come back as quickly as it goes. Football can change in one game."

This season the striker has only appeared in 20 of Chelsea's 30 Premier League games, scoring just five goals. body check tags ::
