Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof is reportedly being linked with a transfer away from Old Trafford this summer, with Galatasaray showing apparent interest.

While the 29-year-old defender has been a pivotal figure for Man United over the last few seasons, it is reported that he is not a part of the future plans of new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Since joining United from Benfica in 2017, the Sweden international has amassed 258 appearances, netting four goals, and contributing seven assists in that time.

However, his involvement in the current Premier League campaign has been limited to just 14 starts, as he has been hampered by injuries throughout the season.

Lindelof top target for Super Lig giants Galatasaray

According to reports from Turkish publication A Spor, Lindelof has been singled out as a top defensive target for Galatasaray in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report adds the Red Devils are expected to bolster their options at centre-back when the transfer market reopens, and Lindelof might find himself deemed surplus to requirements as the club seeks to generate funds for their recruitment efforts.

It is understood that a potential transfer fee in the range of £15m to £20m has been proposed for the Sweden captain, with Galatasaray expressing keen interest in securing his signature.

United to bolster defence in the summer

However, the 29-year-old may not be the only defender departing Old Trafford in the summer, with speculation surrounding the futures of Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans.

As a result, United's defence could look very different in the 2024-25 campaign, especially with Ratcliffe expected to prioritise a new centre-back in the off-season.

In recent weeks, the likes of Juventus's Gleison Bremer and Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite have been linked with a possible move to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

The Toffees believe Branthwaite is valued at around £75m. With FFP rules in play, United will likely have to offload a few existing players to raise funds to bring in new players ahead of next term.

Outside of the defence, several other players could be making their way out of Old Trafford in the summer, including on-loan attackers Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood. Midfielders Donny van de Beek, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen's futures at the club are also up in the air.

Man United are currently in fifth place in the Premier League with 53 points after 33 games and take on Burnley at home on Saturday afternoon. body check tags ::
