Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that goalkeeper Petr Cech will not play again this season.
The Czech suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid in Spain on Tuesday evening.
He landed awkwardly after punching the ball clear from underneath his own crossbar in the first half of the 0-0 draw at the Vicente Calderon Stadium and had to be replaced by Mark Schwarzer, who will deputise for the remainder of their Premier League run-in, starting at title rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
John Terry was another key player substituted, limping off with a foot injury after the break, and Mourinho was pessimistic about his captain's prognosis, while admitting that Cech's campaign was over.
Mourinho told reporters. "Petr Cech's season is over. Don't ask me technically, but season over.
"And John - we have to play the final for him to play with us."
Cech has only missed seven of Chelsea's 52 competitive games this season.
